The National STEM Consortium (NSC), an alliance of ten community colleges in nine states, is designing a portfolio of innovative one-year certificate programs to respond to regional industry needs and (re)train workers for high-demand, mid-skill technical careers.

Background

In 2011 the U.S. Department of Labor solicited grant applications for projects that would expand and improve education and career training programs targeting displaced workers. The NSC was awarded the highest level of funding, nearly $20 million.

Targeting regional labor markets, the NSC will deliver one-year certificates in five high-demand fields:
